Re: APOD: Galaxy Cluster Magnifies Distant... (2014 May 05)
We are able watch the death of a star even though this event occurred billions of years before our sun and planet existed.. Wow !

Re: APOD: Kepler 78b: Earth Sized Planet... (2013 Nov 05)
Planets and planetary systems appear to be extremely diverse. Why does this surprise anyone ? I recently stated this fact in a post about the newly discovered KIC 11442793 system. Shall I post these words every time an announcement about a newly discovered planet is made. Tell your friends, your fam...

Re: Planet Hunters find bite-size planetary system
The growing field of exo-planetary research is still young in comparison to its older and wiser siblings in astronomy, but new findings like this show : firstly planetary systems are extremely diverse, and secondly : the human brain is a remarkably useful tool. Here's a smilie from one proud citizen...

Re: IfA: A Strange Lonely Planet Found without a Star
It's risky to try and predict events well before they've had chance to happen, but I'm confident that ESA's Gaia Space Telescope will be able to find many more of these objects relatively nearby in our galaxy, in addition to a host of 'regular' exoplanets ... & no I'm not talking about Niburu !

Re: NASA-Led Study Explains Decades of Black Hole Observatio
"Noble developed a computer simulation solving all of the equations governing the complex motion of inflowing gas and its associated magnetic fields near an accreting black hole." Wow, No mean feat ! I think Scott Noble deserves a prize. Perhaps a Nobel for Noble ?..

Re: IfA: Black Holes Were Abundant among Earliest Stars
Why hasn't the detected x-ray background emission been redshifted to appear at a lower wavelength ? Or has it ? Has anyone got the time and patience to explain this to me ?
