Re: Submissions: 2021 December

https://pbase.com/wjshaheen/image/172187100 In this brief video, Comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard) can be seen cruising by a background galaxy, NGC 5523, which I refer to as the "Baby Whale" since to me it resembles NGC 4631. Captured in the early morning hours of 05-Dec-2021, the exposure data ap...

Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner and Companion Clusters

In the early morning of September 15, Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner could be seen cruising in front of open star cluster M35 in Gemini. To its lower right is another fine cluster, NGC 2158. Re: Submissions: 2016 February

Over the past few nights, I've imaged M1 for what is now the umpteenth time. (See photo http://www.pbase.com/wjshaheen/image/162487227/large .) Just lately, though, I see a feature I've overlooked. There seems to be a vortex/tornado looking feature that stands out, at least to me. It emanates from t...

Re: Question on uploading attachments

Re: APOD: The Horsehead Nebula in Infrared... (2013 Apr 22)

It is a surprise to me that the Horsehead Nebula is embedded within the Orion Nebula (M42). Is this correct?
