Good post, thanks.
One copyediting note: "although the future brightness of comets is notoriously hard to predict", not "are".

Re: APOD: Milky Way Behind Three Merlons (2024 Aug 07)
Thank you for posting this nice image, Otto. Copyediting note: The asteroid diameter should read "10 km", not "10-km". Hyphenation would be used for the adjectival form, e.g. "One day, the Vogons sent a 10-km asteroid to the Earth, and thereby saved the cetaceans from the hu...

Cool pic, thanks. Copyeditor's note: "...its geometry of shells and arcs is surely intriguing." The sentence subject is geometry, which is singular.

Thanks for another good APOD.
Unsolicited copyeditor's note: "170 meters" takes no hyphen. Only measurements expressed as an adjective should be hyphenated: "DART collided with the 170-meter asteroid yesterday."

Re: APOD: Eye of Moon (2020 Dec 02)
Good idea for a shot. Anyone know what might be causing the effect where the sky meets the rock? I'd say the imager was a bit too aggressive with a sharpening filter. They tend to produce that type of artifact across hard contrast boundaries. Thanks. I thought it must be some kind of after-effect.

Re: APOD: Venus and the Pleiades in April (2020 Apr 02)
Otto, thanks for the heads-up and the excellent graphic! But here the Pleiades are being invaded by a much smaller interloper as well: the dreaded 21-st-century inappropriate hyphen! "naked eye" does not want a hyphen here, only when used as a compound adjective: "naked-eye ob...
