I'd never heard of C2 before. Fun! Perhaps it should be a Wikipedia link in the text, though. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diatomic_carbon#section_1 Diatomic carbon is a diatomic molecule of carbon (C2), which occurs in carbon vapor, for example in electric arcs; in comets, stellar atmospheres an...

This is a cute photo of Sam - and I confess that I am also experimenting to find out just WHY there are sometime's issues with posting photos from my Android tablet.

But this photo is just to make you go 'Ahhh', hopefully. Sam is the most laid-back individual that I know..

You don't have to sign up. Next to the imgur logo is a cloud with an arrow on it. You can click that and paste the link in and it will host it for you and also create multiple images sizes to link. I tried this but it wouldn't work. Problem is not with imgur - there is some kind of incompatibility ...

In the lower left, the 'front bumper' of the rover has "Curiosity" spelled out, but it appears to be cut and shifted in the middle. Am I correct in assuming this is a 'defect' caused by splicing together the pieces of the mosaic? I wrote to Photojournal at JPL-NASA as I also was curious a...

I chose the Fornax Cluster and the Full Moon silhouette. I am very new to astronomy and the Fornax cluster made me gasp at its beauty - and I fell in love with the subject that day.

The Full Moon taught me about angular size, as well being visually stunning.

Visible slightly above left center is the star LL Orionis (LL Ori), originally release by the Hubble Heritage Project in 2002. Thank you, Chris - that clarifies it beautifully for me. It is one of those things that is obvious once explained clearly - but the Wikipedia article that dealt specifically with synodic periods was, err, not one of that wonderful website's best efforts.

I have read what Wikipedia says but just cannot ' get it. :bang: I understand (I think) what is meant by a Synodical Month, as in from New Moon to New Moon.
