Re: APOD: Jelly Donut Shaped Rock Appears on Mars (2014 Jan

Is it possible to follow NASA's plan to investigate this finding? I would have liked to see the look on the person's face when the download from the rover came on screen. That look and some quickened pulses has probably been a pretty common occurrence over the last ten years. Good work to all of you...

Re: APOD: Jelly Donut Shaped Rock Appears on Mars (2014 Jan

It would be interesting if there could be a correlation to the manganese content and manganese nodules found formed in the seabeds here on Earth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manganese_nodule

Of course the most fun would be if it turned out to be a manganese-containing sea shell. :!: :?:

Can I take back both my previous posts and just say, “This photograph makes me feel at one with both halves of our celestial sphere?” No need to over compare or analyze – Nicholas did his work. Thank you for this beautiful rendition of the night sky!

The picture obviously does - I meant today's photo has a Yin-Yang quality and that quality may be universal to our galaxy that the photographer could have intended.

Re: APOD: Opportunity's Decade on Mars (2014 Jan 25)

Obviously the ten year old plus technology is still working fine. I’ll bet it’s a blast for those who get to operate and analyze the data. Will it be equipment failure or budget failure that does it in first? Opportunity’s mission has certainly paid off but there will be a time when NASA has to bala...

Re: Neutron Stars: Total Compaction?

I could not conceive of why dark energy, fueled by inflation, would continue to expand at an increasing rate. I was viewing it in light of two of the forces – an effect over a given distance; then no effect. As the range of the electro-magnetic and gravitation force is infinite, wouldn't their contr...

Re: APOD: Double Cluster in Perseus (2014 Jan 23)

The first question that came to mind when seeing this APOD was what could have initiated such intense star formation in these and other local open clusters. It was interesting to read that it could have been a 70 million year old supernova that initiated star formation in the vicinity of the dust cl...

Re: Neutron Stars: Total Compaction?

Another thing that appears contradictory about space is that over large distances it is expanding but not on smaller scales. It seems that something about it must be fundamentally different. Is it the range of gravity? That point must be some sort of anti-event horizon.

Sufficient to say I think there could be some part of this one could fashion into a hypothesis but, for now, I’ll go back to the little corner of the box I was thinking outside of to elucidate a more sensible, defensible theory. It might take awhile. All in all, whether of the emptiness of a vacuum ...

Is it possible that dark matter interacts in our universe gravitationally as the electro-magnetic wave phenomena we call light? The energy carrier of all electromagnetic radiation is the photon. You know, I don't know that much about quantum physics but the feeble understanding I do have is reacting strongly and telling me that idea makes zero sense. Possibly less than zero sense. :o_O: What are you trying to say, Ron? I was just trying to surmise that dark matter could be the non-interact...
