Re: APOD: The Holographic Principle and a Teapot (2021 Oct 03)
I can see these things pretty easily, but always inside out. Real clear 3D, but convex becomes concave and vv. For me, the teapot is more like a mold for a teapot. It's the 3DSmax teapot! this image is really old! I can see both hollowed version and flying out version! It looks really cool when you...

Re: APOD: Find the Moon (2021 Jul 11)
This is exactly what we experience during the last lunar eclipse, in my case it happened during sunset, as I was in Jakarta, Indonesia. We being astronomy enthusiasts, knew exactly where to look though at first we couldn't see, until I (being the only one wearing no glasses) pinpointed the exact loc...

Re: APOD: Cheering a Total Solar Eclipse (2016 Mar 15)
I am wondering if the narrowness of the corona show here is an artifact of the photography or if it is really reduced compared to previous eclipses. I understand are entering a 'quiet sun' period but it's early in this part of the solar cycle. I don't know if you have seen corona before with your o...

Re: APOD: Dark Sun over Ternate (2016 Mar 10)
I was there in Borneo (Balikpapan) during the event. It was my first solar eclipse, and although it was only about 1 minute plus there, it was a sight to behold, incredible! One thing I learn is that you can actually see the solar corona exactly like those 19th-century lithograph drawing of corona. ...

Re: APOD: Charon (2015 Jul 17)
But as for the much redder hue of the overall color of Pluto, could it possibly have something to do with the atmosphere of Pluto? Neptune's large moon Triton, which is partly reddish, also has an atmosphere. Deep orange Titan has a whopper of an atmosphere. Could it be that the sunlight that reach...

look at Pluto, it's not a perfect circle, it almost looks lop-sided around the 7 o clock position. That's interesting!
I already in love with the heart-shaped feature on Pluto. More interesting than Uranus (lol)

Re: APOD: Geology on Pluto (2015 Jul 11)
I can not believe this picture. Is it really the best quality the probe can provide? Why do we send up expensive probes that are unable to make clear images. The distance is more than enough to make good pictures, even with a standard digial camera. I've expected more and I'm a bit disappointed... ...

Inaccuracies:
Venus's atmosphere should be included!
Rotation! like clockwise Venus, but that doesn't really matter
Saturn's bulge should be squat, ellipse like, instead of a perfect sphere
Why forget Uranus? but that doesn't really matter
