Have loved this galaxy since, let's see -- Lincoln was President, I think. This comes from the moderately light polluted skies above Littleton, Colorado, and comprises about 8 hours of LRGB data through an 80mm Stellarvue refractor with an ST-8e on a Paramount ME. Many thanks for viewing; it is a tr...

Re: APOD: Apollo 11 Landing Site Panorama (2012 Aug 30)
When I make myself stop and think about space flight, to Earth orbit or the Moon, I simply can't comprehend the courage it takes to do that. Oh, it's easy for some of us to say, "Sure, I'd love to go to the Moon", or "Yeah, I'd've flown in a shuttle.", but when push came to shove...

Re: Astronomically Bad Jokes (Or good)
Neufer, you have to add at least a joke in your post! That beeping and jeeping joke is beyond my comprehension :( It's all neufer's fault :!: :!: I read a recent post of his, where Popeye the sailor was asking what a 'jeep' was.(i think it's in an APOD thread) Well, a jeep(vehicle)runs on the road,...

Re: Astronomically Bad Jokes (Or good)
The neutrino gag is too funny to be real. For a minute, I thought we were going down the road of " A proton orders a drink at a bar. The neutron bartender sets the drink down in front of the proton, who asks, "How much?" The neutron replies, "No charge." Glad we avoided that...

Hi Bob Anderson,
Beauty of an image, M-31. It's amazing what narrowband filtering can do for the brightest objects - brings out all the detail in the arms. Thanks for the submission.

Re: What did you see in the sky tonight?
Very tragic year for wildfires in the lower 48. For we westerners (Colorado), this translates into hazy skies all summer long. :( Glimpses of ANYTHING have been few and far between. Visited a friend In Kiowa (55 miles SE of Denver) a few weeks back and had the pleasure of a relatively cloudless dark...

Hi Astro-Folk, Steve from light polluted Littleton, CO here. Astronomy has dominated me since the fifth grade, when a great General Science teacher took his class to an old Nike missle sight in upstate Connecticut and showed them Orion - that was it -- hooked - BAM! 'Course, then came Lost i...
