Re: Submissions: 2013 May

Two days ago NASA released a new image of M57. I had processed this data before, so I couldn't hold my self and combined my processing together with Subaru data and data from the Large Binocular Telescope to get this result. I think this shows M57 with a detail never shown before. Credits: NASA/ESA/...

I'm slowly getting a grip on pixinsight and finally can improve on some imagery made in the recent past. Herbig-Haro objects in the Pelican

Jets are an active, short-lived phase of star formation, lasting only about 100 000 years. They are called Herbig-Haro (HH) objects, named after George Herbig and Guillermo Haro, who studied the outflows in the 1950's. Astronomers still don’t know what role jets play in the star formation process or...

Re: Recent Submissions: 2012 December

Recently I have been working on Hubble data of M57. When processing the data I found one of the stars moving between the images. Triggered by this I tried to find more data that could show the motion. I found some old images made in 1922 and around 1959 made by a 100-inch and a 200-inch telescope (M...

Found a moving star in front of the Ring nebula!

When working on imagery of the HST from M57 I found a dot moving. When combining images from 4 different years it clearly showed the proper motion of the star. In the databases this star is not marked as moving. It's great to make such a 'discovery'. Nice to see the universe really isn't static at a...
