Re: Is it possible?
"What if the erratic track of the comet were due to it being in a tight orbit around a brown dwarf star? Brown dwarfs are only able to be indirectly observed at distance by the gravitational lensing effect they have. They are collapsed dead stars. With huge gravitational pull. What if this dwar...

Re: Is it possible?
OK, good point.
Would an amateur astronomer know it was a dwarf star instead of a comet or something else?

Thanks.
That doesn't really answer my question, though.
Is it possible for this brown dwarf to enter our solar system? How?

Tell me everything & anything you know, please!
Dwarf star?

Some one just brought this up to me tonight & its the first I've heard of it. I thought this would be a good place to get some legit opinions & thoughts.

Re: APOD: Celestial Trails over Greece (2011 May 04)
Have a look at the ship wreck startrails. You can actually see the tide at the little pool in front of the ship and the progressing startrail reflections. I noticed that. There is something about an old ship that captures my soul for some reason. Add that to stars and I'm completely enthralled. I t...

Absolutely loved this!! I really enjoy when the APODs are videos. Its a nice change, although I love the photos as well. Does anyone know the date of the video that expands through the universe and then zooms back in to quantum level? I remember seeing it a while back and would like to watch it agai...

Amazing, you have fulfilled two of my future aspirations:
Astronomer/physicist & Colorado.
Although, I don't know that my brain is cut out for the former.

Absolutely beautiful. I wish I could see it with my own two eyes. Why can't you? It is large and bright- visible with the naked eye, remarkable through binoculars, and stunning with a small telescope, which will show it to your eye looking almost identical to this HST image. Good point! I really me...
