Re: APOD: Moon's Shadow over Lake Magog (2024 Apr 09)
Right. Actually spelled lake Memphremagog, with an r. My clerical error this time. Magog, QC, is on it's northern tip, and Newport, VT, is on it's southern tip.

Re: APOD: Moon's Shadow over Lake Magog (2024 Apr 09)
The picture was actually taken in the town of Magog, QC, on the shore of Lake Memphemagog. Lake Magog is another lake slightly east of Magog. This was Stan's mistake. He acknowledged my correction below my comment of this picture on his Instragram page.

This is not a new discovery. So how come it's all over the web all of a sudden? Maybe because of better imagery?

I see smoke rising up. I presume it's from the volcano and not campfires.
I feel the Earth rising up, like an elevator.

Re: APOD: Mercury in Silhouette (2019 Nov 13)
Oh, thank you. Did not see that a Wiki page existed on the subject. Future astronauts on Mars (if there by 2084) should bring a small telescope with sun filter to see that. Presently, I presume that robots and satellites on and around Mars cannot point and zoom in at the sun without damage. Curiosi...

I wonder... could a transit of our planet Earth be seen from planet Mars ? Anyway, this one is an excellent imaging of Mercury against the Sun.

Really great details on this image. Does the mottled aspect of the ring plane show actual individual ring particles? Ring particles go up to some meters wide, so the larger ones will show up on the highest resolution images someday, for sure. Maybe some are visible here, looks like.

I prefer 3D without glasses, in the parallel view (//) method or, the one I use, the cross-eyed (X) method. Here they are (my X view is higher scale the the one above):
