Re: APOD: Blue Tears and the Milky Way (2015 Apr 24)

Nothing about Hubble HST on this 25th anniversary all the media are talking about? What's with APOD?

I see lumps in the rings. Could be that future images of this could track these lumps and then show them orbiting the star.

Just above the airplane's contrail that can be seen top center is what seems like a star. Could it be daytime Venus?

Re: APOD: Flowing Auroras Over Norway (2013 Jun 09)

Re: APOD: Chelyabinsk Meteor Flash (2013 Feb 23)

I've seen many videos of this meteor but this is the first actual still picture taken of it that I've seen. Could it be the only one yet?

Re: APOD: Virgo Cluster Galaxies (2011 Apr 22)

Great image, one of best showing the immensity of things outside our galaxy. By removing all foreground objects, I'd like to see this image showing only what's outside our galaxy. Could give us an even better feel of what's out and out there, at least from this angle.

Re: APOD: Visual Effects: Wonders of the Universe (2011 Apr

Great, I, for one, loved it! I'd like to mention a nice touch that we don't usually see in such vids: They made it look like we were seeing this through the eye of a real camera lens flying through space. They made it look like so by adding fake dust specs on the lens and fake light refractions from...

Re: APOD: Kepler s Suns and Planets (2011 Mar 29)

I fear this image is going to generate a lot of confusion. It is easy to come away thinking that these are stellar images produced by Kepler. In reality, Kepler is unable to resolve any stars, and simply produces a curve of intensity versus time for each of its targets. This image was synthesized b...
