Re: APOD: Galaxies in Pegasus (2020 Oct 15)

Capture1.PNG Deer Lick Group and companion with arrow.png A faint fuzzy companion galaxy of NGC 7331? According to Wikipedia, NGC 7320 is only 39 million light-years away, making it a possible (but perhaps not probable) physical member of an extended NGC 7331 group of galaxies. NGC 7331 itself is b...

Were the broken links on your google drive perchance? If so, I think they have to be explicitly "shared to all" or some such thing. I'd like to know if those links were broken for others besides me. I can follow the link: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/KvOQBNIUiM8cKB8nvgz6Iq9Tx_s...

You can actually tell at a glance that it is a small galaxy. And yes, its bulge is faint because it contains few stars. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/KvOQBNIUiM8cKB8nvgz6Iq9Tx_synjhoc_IvGm4cn4Z8OsqR3OgrtZ82e8PSNPiPcSiP8ptw2sNl2xvZWGfX1X0eCtn9PdhNK3H__nJfgDEim_T28Vu4X8ObRa5mBJCR5WBi1vM Goo...

NGC 7320 is a gorgeous galaxy. Is the bulge faint because of a low star count? Does the galaxy as a whole have a lower star count compared to others it's size? Because it is massively overexposed, meaning the red, green, and blue channels are all maxed out, making the image color white.
Ah, thanks.

The shape of the nebula is so complex, I find it hard to imagine its history and development. An interesting development at the left of the structure, it appears that the bright orange star is pushing it back. I would guess that's a recent development. For imagery, it could be a bright moth that th...

With all the impact craters evident, does the Moon serve serve as a sort of protective fly trap for Earth? Well, I'm sure there were some meteorites that hit the moon instead of hitting the earth had the moon not been there, but because of the moon's small size and large distance (currently about 3...

Talking about bats. Don't go too near the Bat Nebula, with its massive stars system. Or you have as Kathryn Janeway in a Star Trek Voyager episode to "batten down the hatches", when they come too close to a double neutron star system ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeHtOxJMgDk ). Ha! Go...

Dumb question: can the earth ever cast a shadow on mars? Or, does the earth ever eclipse the sun on mars? Or does the earth ever transit the sun on mars?
