Re: Submissions: 2020 September
This is an image of NGC1316 (AKA Cannibal) which received a shortlisting in Insights Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2020 competition. The object is a face on giant elliptical galaxy. It displays many merger shells and has apparently just had an encounter with NGC1317 the smaller galaxy near it. ...

The Robin's Egg Nebula The Robin's Egg nebula (NGC1360) is a planetary nebula located around 1200-1700 light years from Earth. A myriad of background galaxies of varying morphologies can be seen within the field with some being very distant and becoming red shifted. Interestingly there are what app...

A Supernova's Web This is a mosaic that I have been working on for the last few years. Two panels which contain 82 hours of data. Taken in Ha and OIII. This supernova remnant covers a massive area of the sky. Probably seen around 12,000 years ago by humans, who probably wondered what the new star wa...

Pa 161, NGC6818 and NGC6822. Pa 161 was only discovered this January by Dana Patchick. This is the first known amateur image of Pa 161 and also my independent discovery of the object. It is an OIII bubble which I captured during my OIII capture of this field. It led to some excitement when I first v...
