I'm in Europe and there was (and always is) an insane amount of fireworks on new years eve...and there has been no mass of dead birds falling from the sky, so I'm not sure about this explanation in the original newspaper article. Leaving aside all other arguments about whether time travellers could or do exist, I think that logging searches on the Internet for events that haven't happened is an interesting concept. However, yes, some major events, like the twin towers for example, have had a knock on effect around the world....

Beatiful creatures. Amazing as well (mostly seen this with merlins) to watch them hovver, seemingly perfectly still, high in the sky and then bam! Down they go and some rabbit, mouse or other small animal is a gonner.
