Re: Submissions: 2024 July

This is a portion of the Veil Nebula in Cygnus. It's imaged frequently, but this is another set of data from the Hubble Legacy Archive processed with FITS Liberator v4 and Photoshop Elements. Again, it illustrates that having fun with data is at the fingertips of everyone with a computer and a love ...

Re: Submissions: 2024 July

Good Morning. I miss astrophotography since I moved to Florida. The skies just don't work and it's too humid. In the past, I gathered my own data with sophisticated equipment like many of you on this forum - but no more. In the past I also have had fun processing Hubble Legacy Archive data, and rece...

Re: Submissions: 2016 March

NGC 1275 in Perseus. This one's made the rounds of APOD since about 2005, I think, but it cycles back every 2 to 3 years like a periodic comet. My version of processing of Hubble Legacy Data is different than the other iterations that have been on APOD before. Not sure if it's better, just different...

http://hwilson.zenfolio.com/img/s10/v105/p1668897526-2.jpg NGC 5866 from Hubble Legacy Data. I post this image because after I processed the data from the Hubble Legacy Archive, I noticed some wispy dust lanes in the upper part of the galaxy that I hadn't noted on other versions of this object. I d...

Oh my goodness, what a picturews of Stephan's Quintet! Amazing! Super-superior! Hubble at its best, and then you've done some top-class processing, Hunter Wilson! (Remainder clipped - not because it doesn't merit repeating, but for space) Thanks, Ann, for the nice comments and the very informative ...

Re: Recent Submissions: 2010 November 8-10

I forgot to say that I love the picture of Arp 194! Wow, what an image!!! :D :D :D :D :D And I love the NGC 6914 image, too. This is one of my favorite parts of the sky, with the petite little blue reflection nebulae swimming in that sea of red! Ann Thanks for the comment on Arp 194, Ann. I've been...

Like Moths to a Flame Copyright: Hunter Wilson http://hwilson.zenfolio.com/emission/h8debc4a#h8debc4a This image of IC 59 and IC 63 (Sh2-185) - The Gamma Cassiopeiae Nebula - reminds me of moths being drawn to a flame as the nebulae delicately flutter around their own nuclear candle. The image look...
