Re: APOD: The Rosette Nebula in Hydrogen and... (2015 Feb 25

Much better!
But the one that won (sorry to say) it is not in the same league! And I saw the first one as an APOD (despite it is a DSLR or not)!
Anyway, congratulations for the APOD.

Cheers,

Hi all,

Very nice photo of this elusive nebula!
Anyway I think that an WtIII (Whatamium III) filter would bring a litlle more detail to the upper left part of the photo :D

Yes, a nice one...
In 2011 I made a 33 hours one and I submited to APOD! Unfortunatelly, for some reason, they do not liked it

Well live goes on.

Very nice photo indeed! Congratulations to the author who catched a unique moment! This is a National Geography magazine photo and should deserve a prize!
But, since this is the APOD...what about the astronomy element?

Hello, I let you here an object that was discovered only in May 2011 by N.Outters! This elusive squid it was the most dificult object I ever photographed! Even with 11h15m of OIII data the signal is so dim that it is very hard to process! Here the data: OU4 nebula in Sh2-129 Takahashi FS102NSV @ 641...

One thing is blue stars (that you may see in M13 for example) another thing is blue halos (Halas :-)). The same for the orange/red ones!!!! This picture deserved a reprocess to diminish/remove both. And at the upper right corner the stars are elongated too! And yes, there are lots of stars (Why shou...

Yes, this a very easy picture to do! Unfortunatelly most of us (well here I talk for myself) can't afford a trip to a paradise Island like that one. As the author writes about this 2010 picture: "This pacific paradise in the southern hemisphere is Mangaia, the most southerly of the Cook Islands...

Congs Maritxu (do you remember the 13 asteroids thing...?). All you need is to make an HDR to get the full dynamic range. Here a pic I made in 2009 with a FS102 and a Canon 40D.
