Re: Gallery: Venus Transit 2012
http://ih0.redbubble.net/image.12061606.8213/flat,550x550,075,f.jpg and here is how I captured it. I planned only to watch this as I didn't have a camera to photograph it (so I was thinking) due to a communication problem with my big digital outfit. Then I had a brainwave. I was looking at the ecli...

Lunar Eclipse montage from terranora, far north coast NSW. Hasselblad H2/P20/HC50-110 @ 110/f8, images at 10 min intervals from 0422AEDT. Some thin clouds accounts for the faintness of some of the partial stages. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3270/5838097386_6700f785b5_b.jpg Lunar Eclipse Montage b...

Tomorrow mornings lunar eclipse (16/06/2011 in Oz)
I am going to try a time lapse shoot of the eclipse in the morning to see if I can do one of those Time lapse videos. I have been inspired by the videos of Terje Sørgjerd (http://www.facebook.com/TSOPhotography). There's a link to his Vimeo on my blog. I will go just up the road where there are nice...

Yesterday's and today's planetary conjunction shots. I drove down to the Tweed River at Tumbulgum, far north coast NSW, for yesterdays, but today I was lazy and shot from the verandah window. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3576/5717238052_2e3b7eaa25.jpg Black Friday conjunction by Photography by Odi...

Re: APOD suggestion 2
All, I'm sure regular observers know about this, and hope that I'm not duplicating what is being discussed elsewhere here (I can't find anything), but according to this week's "Sky at Night" with the Good Astronomer, Sir Patrick Moore, there is a 'massing' of planets this week. See this v...

Re: Recent Submissions
A couple of recent ones I took of the 4 planets and the moon. From 01 & 02 May, both at around 0525. Taken from Terranora, far north coast NSW, Australia. How I came to take them was quite funny. I woke up at my usual early worm time of 4.30am on Mayday, ambled out to the computer, played about ...

Re: 2010 June Lunar Eclipse
We had scudding clouds at my place, but like this 2 min exposure with the movement of them streaking. Taken from Terranora, north coast NSW Australia - Canon 1DsMKII, 100-400L f4, 2 sec, f8, ISO200 - time 20:51AEST http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4135/4736113777_5632d6ef70.jpg This image is linked fr...

Re: A couple of questions
I certainly hadn't used them, owl. This looks to be a very interesting forum.
And bystander, as I said in the original post, I did read the rules, I could not see where they say anything about WHEN certain features are enabled, only the mention of different levels as you make more posts.

A couple of questions
After many years of using APOD I saw a link to a poll on Is APOD a blog? and found this site! Where have you been hiding it? I have a question on the User Control Panel that I could not see answered in the rules. I was unable to add a signature or Avatar, do these functions become available after a ...
