Re: APOD: Two New Hubble Quality Telescopes to... (2012 Jun
What would happen if the scientists would turn the Hubble telescope towards Earth? What would they see? NASA official Michael Moore said that if the Hubble Space Telescope were pointed at the surface of the Earth instead of at outer space, “you could see a dime sitting on top of the Washington Monu...

Is this an Iridescent Cloud!?
I'm about to enter a physics photography contest and i thought of a picture that I think I took of an iridescent cloud. but since I was hesitant about the cloud being an iridescent, I wanted to ask wether anyone can confirm it. IC.jpg it was around 11AM if that matters and the cloud was like ~20 deg...

Re: Lunar Eclipse (2011 June) Images
I was planning to capture a Panoramic Star trails picture, so on the night of the moon eclipse I put two Canon T1is next to each other and captured 290 pictures on each one, then stacked the sequences and stitched them together to form this image. there are few more trails in the picture on right, t...

Re: APOD: Endeavour's Starry Night (2011 Jun 02)
I have something to say regarding Giordano Bruno's question and Ann's response. I may be wrong, but if someone asked me 'why there are no stars in the pictures taken out of the Earth? (e.g. on the Moon)' or 'why Apollo crews said they have not seen any stars?', I would've answered that because those...

I believe there would be no terminal velocity on Miranda. the objects won't be traveling through any fluid or medium. because of lack of the atmosphere, there is no reason for being stopped at terminal velocity. Correct... but I think you may be misunderstanding the previous comment. The coincidenc...

Re: Partial Solar Eclipse (2011 Jan 4) Images
Hi, we had a cloudy, still good weather here in Tehran. Partial Solar Eclipse.jpg clouds were so intense at the point that eclipse was maximum which made it hard to focus the image for me! Dirty Eclipse.jpg the earlier image is more clear and much better focused. and this is a live view of the eclip...

Re: 10/10/10
we had something interesting in our calendar couple of weeks ago; the way our Iranian calendar counts, this year is 1389. we use the same ordering that Europeans use, and today is 20/7, so about two weeks ago it was 6/7 & we had 1-9 right after each other:
1h:23m:45s 6/7/89!
1h:23m:45s 6/7/89!

Very Beautiful alter-ego.
is any filter necessary when observing and shooting Green Flash? is it still harmful to look at the sun at such low altitude through a telescope and without filter?
