I know its not technically an arachnid but these give me the creeps, I;'m generally ok with spiders though, although I don't know how I'd fair against a big hairy beast of a spider like a tarantula or ANYTHING from Australia.
Proper ugly these things.

It only looks about 4-5 inches thick if it even is that. Quite scary to think that 4-5 inches seperates you from absolute certain death. It doesnt need to be a glass dome tho, it could be a big metal monstrosity of some sorts. It would be a start. Although something tells me there are just as many p...

i struggle to see how scissors a light year in proportion would way the same as the matter of a million galaxies combined! Especially when I haven't even told you what they are made out of yet lol. although I don't entirely disagree, there should be a new tax on fuels created by yourself for your own car which is a lot less than that on normal fuel, with thought given to the recycling effect of using old oil as well. This would have an environmental impact aswell as it means that the oil is go...

Interesting that to me it looks like the darkened area is clear spot into the red dust. :? Optical illusion I guess. I agree, it does look like that. Plus David Malins photo (the one from leons post) is less clear, even although you have said that the paper would have had an effect on clarity Ann. ...

Re: GRED Answer: Scissor vertex speed
blades should know when to meet each other aren't blades just two rigid pieces of metal? No. A rigid body is a theoretical impossibility in SR, because it would transmit information faster than light. In practice, if you assume rigidity and end up with an absurd result, it tells you that you need t...

In britain, its illegal to run your car on cooking oil because no tax has been paid on it. If it were to be taxed it would just cost the same as normal petrol or diesel. I do NOT see how a government has the right to intervene when you have bought cooking oil (which has Value Added Tax applied to it...

Re: GRED Answer: Scissor vertex speed
You arent travelling at the speed of light at all. because one end of the scissors is at your end and the other is at makc's so the communication would be instantaneous i presume! I get your point tho Amir. The blades themselves would be moving at just the same speed as a normal pair of scissors bec...

This is the moon though rob. not mars. I'm pretty sure if they put their minds to it, they could build a dome which would withstand all the pressures as well as make sure that the hole would be air tight. after all, they have a space suit helmet, which would be the fraction of the thickness of a spa...

I've often thought about this. if you shake your hand really fast it appears that it is in 2 places at the one time. Now I have thought that if you were to take the speed that your hand or even your finger takes to get from one point to the other and put the exact same speed into a space ship, would...

I remember watching a program on tv about this telescope, I'm quite excited about it if I'm honest. My mates (being 25 and all) think I'm a saddo, but I don't care. the images this will provide will be beyond amazing.

Weird, I just assumed LA had the same climate as the area I lived in during the 80's, which was inland, near San Diego... very hot, very dry though so it evens out a little. I don't remember LA being muggy even though I've been there recently. By East Coast or Southern standards, few would describe...

Now heres a thing. If this car runs on hydrogen and it mixes with air to create electricity then I can only assume that there is a possible air intake. Now do you think it would matter if the air was warm/cold or dry/humid. If the car excretes water from its exhaust then surely if its raining and th...

In the hi res version of this photo there is a faint line running ESE from the top of the frame to the volcano in the upper right. Is this a flaw in the photo or something more interesting? I'm assuming this was a fairly short exposure so if the line represents a moving body, it would have to be mo...

I know it sounds crazy right, but this water being vented by these cars is man made is it not? so surely, over a few thousand (maybe not even a few thousand years) years the levels of water will slowly start to rise? Going Green!?
I thought i'd create a new thread for the argument of going green in the thread about books before it gets locked for going off topic. So here it is, a link will be posted in that thread to here. As great as hydrogen power sounds, remember, it's energy storage not energy production. So as makc point...
