I see the 'left to right' distance appear to expand, but really I would say it's just a rotation, sans expansion. Looking at the matter on the right side is like focusing on one spoke, and you can't see the spokes ahead of it making the turn. A few more years maybe...

I'm with the mirror school, not a shadow. Take the light out of a room and the mirror is dark. Put a little light in and you'll be able to see the dark reflections in contrast to the light. But... it's more romantic to call it a shadow, author's privilege (however incorrect). Kinda like a politician...

I have to concur with the brick wall theory. But I also think the use of a prism is a 2-dimensional manner of analyzing the energy from the Sun. The prism decompresses the visible light, but does not make non-visible colors visible, they pass through and remain undetected. So I think, as in Pink Flo...

It sure looks a lot like an older version of Gaelic to me. How long have we had a 24 hour clock, and did we once have a 12 hour one?
