Your silence is deafening. Whats the matter, Al Gore got your tongue?
Our perhaps you are busy building your ark?

Hi Chris,
Have you had a chance to check out the senate report yet? I haven't heard you make any comments regarding it or its references.
By the way I love your website!

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
There are many other references documenting the miss use of the term greenhouse effect in regards to C02 or climate impacts but it sounds like your mind is made up. As to the models handling water vapor well, again I believe you are mistaken. Have you had a chance to read any of the Senate report ye...

Here is a link to the reference . The original study was done by (Wood, 1909). Go to the section on Real greenhouses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenhouse_effect. Keep in mind that in the earths atmosphere the C02 content is very minor compared to water vapor which is a significantly more importa...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
Here is another fun fact. The term greenhouse warming is really a misnomer as the temperature increase in a greenhouse is caused by the glass inhibiting convection of the air and not the trapping of long wave radiation. That is part of the mechanism for heating inside a greenhouse. The other part i...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
Fun fact: since the human body radiates around 75W, if you look at the energy production of the entire human population from body heat alone, it works out to around 2e19 J/yr. There's some serious energy available there, if we could just harness it. Rather...we need Family Planning to limit all tho...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
Greenhouse gases do not cause warming, they trap the heat from solar radiation. I don't quite understand your statement above Isn't it the "Trapping of Heat" that causes warming? And then If the Greenhouse Gasses trap heat doesn't this Trapped Heat increase ambient temperatures? @Hydro......

Re: IPPC Models Vs. Actual Data
Perhaps the national climatic data center for the winter of 2007-2008 will calm you down. As one can see over half of the US was at or below its average. No, the data has absolutely no bearing on the climate at all, and tells us nothing about trends. It is also worth noting that the climate models ...

Here is another graph from NOAA showing winter temperature trends have been declining since 2000. These data have not had the urban heat island effect removed. If you look at any long term station in the US that is in a rural area you will find they are all declining. http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/c...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
Chris, I would suggest checking the predicions from a few years ago about the new cycle. You will find they are all wrong. For the most part, predictions of future solar cycles have always been poor. Nobody knows how to make such predictions yet. It is easy to read too much into reports of solar ac...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
Your new sunspot lasted less than 24 hours, not a great start for the new cycle! Actually, that's how nearly every new solar cycle starts. What would you expect, some massive sunspot group and class X flares? This current activity makes it pretty clear that this minimum won't be as deep as the 1901...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
Love your style chris, you forgot to mention that this almost invisible sunspeck is the first in 25 days of blankness. Is this the best that you and cycle 24 got? The suns activity upswing is over a year late. The single best predictor of solar activity is the length of the last cycle. It was unusu...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
I enjoy the discussion here as it is at a higher level than normally seen on the web. I still have a problem with the "human caused global warming" science. As has been shown near the beginning of this discussion, climatic changes occur with or without humans. Also, there are cycles withi...

Re: 2009 April 21 - global warming
It's amazing how paradigms can pause blind spots... Compared to the past 100 million years, the Earth is currently enduring a relative cold spell, possibly about four degrees Celsius below average. Over the past 100 years, however, data indicate the average global temperature of the Earth has incre...

Re: Climate Change Facts

When you begin to remove the impact of the urban heat island effect from the global temperature data you will find that the global tem...

Please stop the false and irresponsible reporting of the climate change issue. Climate alarmist are causing a frenzy of bad science to be reported as facts. The post today is just one example. Perhaps APOD should stick to astronomy and not delve into other scientific disciplines. As a practicing cli...
