Re: Curiosity: Mars Science Laboratory

Thanks to everyone for your explanation of the orientation of the front wheels as I questioned above. Now for another question, or perhaps just an observation........... The new photos from Sol 2 show alot more dust and gravel on the top of the rover than I would have expected. You can tell from the...

Re: Curiosity: Mars Science Laboratory

Something I don't understand, so please help me. I've seen the pictures that Curiosity took of its shadow, both with the lens cover on and off. The rover is pointed southeast toward Mt. Sharp, which is clearly seen in the pictures that were taken from one of the front hazcams. So why are the front w...

STS-127 and ISS Expedition 20

When the Soyuz spacecraft docks with the ISS on 5/29/09, the ISS will have a crew of 6 for Expedition 20 and all those after. When STS-127 Endeavor flies, scheduled for 6/13/09, it will have a crew of 7. When that happens, will that be the most humans ever in space at one time? Amazing, when you thi...

Re: Comet Lulin (2009 Feb 25)

I saw it with 10x50 binoculars, early in the morning on both 2/16/09 and 2/17/09 as it passed Spica, and the morning of 2/24/09 as it passed Saturn. But it was cloudy last night and didn't get a chance to see it pass close to Regulus. You really had to know exactly where to look to see it. But it wa...

Re: Favorite APOD

Anything with the ISS. It's amazing to think we've had people on the ISS constantly since November 2000. A constant reminder of the good things we can do, aside from all the crap we put up with on the surface.

STS-125 and STS-127

This is my first post, so bear with me. I don't know if this has been discussed here before, and can't find any other message board where this question would be more appropriate. So here we go. STS-125, the upgrade mission to Hubble, is presently scheduled to launch on May 12, 2009. STS-127, the mis...
