Re: Weird phenomenon over Norway

Argh, but it has a .dk domain instead of .no and since he's not Dutch, that'd be weird if it was him.
Just a small remark: .dk is the domain name of Denmark (close to Norway), not Holland, which would be .nl, for 'the Netherlands', the residents of which are Dutch. Confusing, I know. :)

Re: Weird phenomenon over Norway

Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions! It seems indeed like the opinions converge towards the Russian rocket explanation after all.

Re: Weird phenomenon over Norway

The spiral structure looks suspiciously Photoshopped from that, however. I agree that the spiral structure does look suspiciously fake in the pictures. However, there is a video where you can see that there really was something spinning round in a spiral-like way: http://www.vgtv.no/?id=27558&c...

Re: Weird phenomenon over Norway

Hm, the last two images seem to have some trouble showing. Here they are again. If they still don't work, drag the word 'image' to the address bar to see them.

I think this new entry at atoptics.co.uk settles the discussion for good.

Re: Unusual Red Glow Over Minnesota (2009 February 17)

1. I have been inside an aurora on the ground in Ontario, and the picture and words reminded me of that experience. How exactly do you mean inside an aurora on the ground ? Since auroras do not normally form below an altitude of 100 km , I wonder what it could have been that you experienced. 3. The...

Re: Unusual Red Glow Over Minnesota (2009 February 17)

It looks like it could be a Parry Arc, observed from the sky. I believe this is an aerial view of a Parry Arc colored by a sun that had just set. Hi Paul, I do not entirely understand what you mean by a Parry arc 'observed from the sky'. Do you imply that being in the sky would give you a closer lo...

Re: Unusual Red Glow Over Minnesota (2009 February 17)

Hello there, Personally I think it's not likely that we're dealing with a window reflection here. No doubt the observer would have thought of that, and checked it by moving his head to and fro to see if the phenomenon appeared to 'move along' with him or remain stationary in relation to the backgrou...
