I'm afraid I'm a bit confused by how all these images of the eclipse formed. We've seen something similiar http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap051014.html when the sunlight goes through a pin-hole. But you don't see a round disk on the ground when sunlight reflects off a building or mirror on a non-e...

Something occurred to me after watching the AGI animation of the debris caused by this collision: it's unlikely the debris will re-collide on the other end of the orbits (over Antarctica) because I doubt the orbits intersect there, too. But shouldn't all the debris re-collide over the Arctic, again ...
