APOD 2008 June 19 The Star Streams of NGC 5907
Great picture. Been a fan for years. It made me curious as to why the 'filaments' of stars look so flimsy - shouldn't there be a lot more resitance to moving them, caused by the galaxy's dark matter halo? Does this pic provide some sort of limit on the amount of gravitational influence from the halo...
