Sun spots appear black presumably just because of the intensity contract with its surrounds.

I have heard that in the early 1900 solar flares interfered with telegraph operation, in one case where the telegraph would operate when the power was disconnected. This seems to me to be an apocalyptic omen. To what extent could these coronal mass ejections blow out electronics and power on earth? ...

You can't really tell if the land masses are moving as plates on Earth or perhaps like giant bulldozers such as glaciers often do. Shadow of robot on ice field?
The caption is mainly focussed on the shadow of the robot whereas the landscape appears to be a lanscape of frozen ice. Is that really ice or is it just an artifact of the photograph?

Why are the stars radiating eight radial beams. I suppose this is an artifact of the camera iris whchc is a pity since it is not representative of some real aspect of the stars.
