Kepler's Field of Vision
Hi Guys! In a previous post I had been told that there is more chance of finding life on the periphery of the galaxy than its center. (I was told that there are black holes near the center). I am very interested to know whether the Kepler's field of vision is pointing away from center of galaxy rela...

What is at the center of the galaxy
Hi All! WRT today's (30th April 2008.. Arp272) pic, I wanted to ask this question: What is at the center of the galaxy? Why is the center so bright? Specially in the case of NGC6050 The center of the galaxy is more brighter and more distinct in case of image of "spiral galaxies in collision&quo...

Most Interest Image: Bacteriophages (APOD 21 Apr 2008)
I must say that this image is a very very different image from the standard images! As a person who has not missed a single image for last 1 year I have never as of yet encountered an Image which is so unrelated to astronomy! To top it all, there is not even a hint of any obtuse reference to how it ...

Markarian's Eyes and material torn out (APOD 08 June 2007)
I was just reading todays explanatinon of Picture of the day and read the following: Gravitational tides from the close encounter have ripped away at their stars, gas, and dust. Now if stars can be "ripped" away from a galaxy then there MUST be some leftovers. What I mean is that can these...
