I wondered that too... maybe mild clouds, but not dense? Or maybe air pollution, or something in the air... like pollen? Just my guesses...probably wrong...

Re: APOD: A View Toward M106 (2019 Jun 20)

Sorry if I've already asked this in the past. Whenever I look at such photos, I always wonder, which one of the bright objects (of various sizes, shapes and colors) we see are stars and which ones are galaxies. There are some photos wherein every object (almost every) is a galaxy. But, some have a ...

Nice picture but I am kind of confused. To take this picture requires exquisite timing. You must visit late afternoon at 5 am near the equinox. Is everything I was taught in school wrong? I was taught that 5 pm was late afternoon, and 5 am is early morning? It would appear the APOD is talking about...

Really good 3D effect for me. This is one of the very few that actually APPEAR to bring out the objects from my monitor. Like about 6 inches...especially on the left side. I wonder what the striations sweeping through some areas are... grooves from ice evaporation? There are places that look like &q...

Hi, gang... I got out the 6" Celestron Evolution, and took some images of the Moon tonight. Each is with the Zwo 120 Color Camera with 2x Barlow, I took 150 frames at 4fps as an AVI file, stacked the best 50 in Registax 6. I think they came out awesome...especially Copernicus Crater. I hope you...

As Ann's post picture shows...today's APOD is only the central region...not the whole of the galaxy...so you don't get a true perspective...this galaxy is still very much in a state of "disruption"...either mergers, or "group affected", I would think... Do a search for M96 galaxy...

It is a wonderful coincidence! This is a very awesome close up of the clouds, and the dark area is certainly interesting...it reminds me of the "EYE WALL" in a Hurricane. I wonder if it is really hollow, or if it is some darker material as we see in some of the other swirly areas. It very ...
