Re: APOD: The Gum Nebula Supernova Remnant (2022 Nov 29)
That's certainly fascinating! Anyway. The Gum Nebula is faint, which is why we don't often see it being photographed. Ann Fascinating and somewhat disconcerting! This thing is about 1000 ly wide (1500-450), some one hundredth of the Milky Way extension! I bet it is faint, it must have a rea...

Re: APOD: M13: The Great Globular Cluster in... (2022 Aug 04)
I wonder how the sky would look like from an hypothetical planet orbiting one of the star near the center, where, as the caption says, there are some a 100 stars in 3 light years. https://modulouniverse.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/glob-inside.jpg?w=676 Maybe it would look something like this? Re: APOD: Circular Sun Halo (2021 Jun 10)
I live in Rome and I saw it. I was at the beach so without city obstacles I could enjoy completely. It lasted for several minutes, half an hour or more. And there was another segment of arc at a few degrees from the ring. Really a nice sight! What did you see - halo, ring of file, or "just&quo...

Re: APOD: A Triple Star is Born (2016 Dec 02)
Wonderful image. The proto-stars seem to be quite near one another, is it known what class of stars are they going to be? Is it possible that they will migrate at different distances?
Thanks
