"If you were in it would you notice it..."
I think that "if you were in it" you wouldn't "notice it" as I read about this subject concerning the Orion nebulea.

"April 24 2008 Cygnus without stars"
"April 24 2008 Cygnus without stars" apod made me realize that a bright nebulae, once considered as a single object, (as seen with small telescopes) like the North America Nebula is just a lighted part of a huge "cloud" of glowing hydrogen atoms.

http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/objects/heapow/archive/compact_objects/spinning_bh.html So it seems that the possibility of spinning and non-spinning black holes exist. What interest me is to imagine the structure of the gravitional fields these two kind of objects would have if represented as if ...

M57 "Ring Nebula"
I've always guessed that the "Ring Nebula" if viewed from a different angle (that would be only an option in space) would have an hour-glass shape as many planetary nebulas do.., it looks like a ring maybe because we see it at a particular angle, ie: front view!

Re: Colliding galaxies
Hi, on apod Oct. 27/97 and lot of others we can see two galaxies colliding. My question is: What are the probalities of stars colliding when these events occur considering the angle of collision? Thanks...but what about the way they collide...I mean: what if the collision happens for each galaxy to ...
