X-ray Stars of Orion (APOD 06 Oct 2007)
A stupid question perhaps - but the center star of "the Belt" has a blue dot in the center of the corona. None of the other stars has that. Is it because the star is so much brighter that it's burned in, or because there is a fortuitous eclipse happening, or am I missing the point? TIA, Krys

Spiral Galaxies (APOD 24 July 2007)
While looking at today's APOD (Spiral Galaxy M83), I wondered ... do all galaxies appear to rotate clockwise, or are there some that rotate counter-clockwise? If both ways, what are the percentages? Saturn's infrared glow (APOD 12 Oct 2006)
Looking at this picture raised a question in my mind... Since the rings are not solid and if it was possible to stand in their shadow, would it be dark or would some light filter through?

12 Feb 06 APOD ... Phoebe: Comet Moon of Saturn
How does the size of Phoebe compare to the comet (or fragments) that crashed into Jupiter awhile back?
