Dear Fans of the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) ,
If the US Government shutdown affects APOD's main NASA site at
http://apod.nasa.gov/, many of APOD's mirror sites will still be updated and operational during this shutdown. A list of these sites can be found here:
http://www.star.ucl.ac.uk/~apod/apod/li ... _apod.html
For example, the daily APOD should remain viewable from the APOD's mirror at the University College London (UK) during the US government shutdown:
http://www.star.ucl.ac.uk/~apod/apod/astropix.html
Another example is APOD's main Facebook site which is expected to remain up and updated during the shutdown:
https://www.facebook.com/AstronomyPictureOfTheDay/
