I have attached an image of Saturn I took from my garden with an off-the-shelf webcam. Conditions were reasonably good and the Cassini division, the northern storm and planets shadow on the rings clearly visible. It is remarkable how much the CCD age has changed things for astronomy enthusiasts in the last few decades. With a simple, inexpensive, off-the-shelf webcam and minimal skill fantastic details can be seen on the planet. The image compares my webcam Saturn image taken from my back garden (left) to one taken on August 26, 1979 by Pioneer (right). (Courtesy of NASA/JPL)
