A mixed bag for sure. Side by side comparison with Cocoa Beach moon at 9:30 EDT without fireworks.

How nice that this images preserves the "man in the Moon" mystique by endowing the Moon with evocative smokey facial features! (Hmm, are those smoke clouds or am I also seeing the underlying dark Maria?) And just look at all those new "canals" the Moon has! :ssmile:

Well,it's low in the sky, so reddened by the atmosphere. And probably further reddened by smoke from the fireworks. The rest is probably just exposure and color balance.

I'm interested in the color of the Moon in this picture. It is a light shade of brown.

Normally, the Moon looks very white in the sky, even though its intrinsic color is dark reddish.

Chris, have you got any thoughts about the interesting color of the Moon in this picture?

A buck is a male deer. A doe is a female deer. This moon is called after the male (buck).

Image Fireworks vs Supermoon

Explanation: On July 4, an almost Full Moon rose in planet Earth's evening skies. Also known as a Buck Moon, the full lunar phase (full on July 3 at 11:39 UTC) was near perigee, the closest point in the Moon's almost monthly orbit around planet Earth. That qualified this July's Full Moon as a supermoon, the first of four supermoons in 2023. Seen from Cocoa Beach along Florida's Space Coast on July 4, any big, bright, beautiful Full Moon would still have to compete for attention though. July's super-moonrise was captured here against a super-colorful fireworks display.
