http://www.iac.es/eno.php?op1=2&lang=en) in the island of La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain), next to the heart of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. The silhouette of a person to the right of the telescope is dwarfed by the splendour of La Palma starry night and the GTC. The picture dramatically shows the evolution of thousands of years of human exploration of the skies. The GTC, with a light collecting area over two million times larger than the human eye, is one of the most advanced machines designed to explore the Universe.
