Hello,
I just slept a couple of hours, I was eager to see the pictures I took this morning of the Venus-Moon-Jupiter conjonction. I decided last evening to observe the event and I decided to go to the top of Mont-Royal in Montreal. I sent an invitation on my science commincation company's facebook page (facebook.com/cosmagora) for people to join me. There was a couple of dozens of persons on the montain. I brought a small telescope on Mont-Royal, we had a spectacular view with the rise of some of the brightest objects in the Sky.

As you can see, there's a lot of light pollution in Montreal ! Even though the montain top is a city park without many light, downtown Montreal is so bright that almost only the planets and the moon are visible.
Quote from an Astronmy Magazyne article : "Quebec is one of the most light-polluted regions on Earth. Satellite images taken during winter 1997 show the city of Montreal suffering the same amount of light pollution as New York City, despite having less than one-quarter its population. Even after taking into account the snow-cover reflection, each person emits 3 times as much light as the average American or European."

I must admit though that all those lights in the city are very beautiful at night, even more from the Mont-Royal belvedaire. The problem is it limits your wonderment to your surrounding vicinity and banished you from the heavens !

Note : you don't need a Facebook account to watch those pictures.
Thank you and have a nice day !
