Like most participants, I also say that this is a difficult choice. I choose Star Trails Pole to Pole for pure APOD interest, and the Galactic Eye for its beauty.

When the potential for informative text is considered, then I would say:

1- Star Trail from Southern Pole to Northern Pole : This is a unique view of rotating Earth, and as seen from the Equator no less. I have seen star trail pictures from near Equator even in panorama format, but not all-sky.

2- Evening Storm in Beynam : Has potential of writing about the weather and especially lightning on Earth and other planets. Venus (visible in the picture) might have them, Jupiter and Saturn definitely do.

One thing that I often base my vote on is Which image, if picked for an APOD, would likely generate text that would teach me the most? That's a hard question for me to answer for this particular poll.

I voted for these two! (although I liked Alex's other submission better)

Paul, I hope you looked at it full size; it looks even more like an eye that way!

(Actually, I hope you clicked on all the images for their larger selves!)
