Hello All

Google earth

I have not tried it yet.

Thanks for the hint

Cool, I never noticed that... Have you tried stellarium?

Next time you are in Google Earth, try zooming out instead of in. You will discover that the constellations are in the background of stars also. (If you haven't already tried it) Rotate to the south pole and zoom out to find Polaris and the Little Dipper and go from there.

It's pretty easy to identify the location of aerial photos using google earth. You can even rotate and tilt the viewpoint to recreate the shot.

I wanted to use the photo as my desktop wallpaper and thought it would be nice to know where it was taken.

I think you are right, just the tip of the Horn, although I did not recognize it at first because of the low angle, and direction (looking north-east). If you could see more of it, or Yemen across the water to the left, it would be clearer. How did you happen to notice?

I'm pretty sure that's the Horn of Africa (Somalia) in the background.
